The objective was to design a silent films archive in Rotterdam, Netherlands along the Erasmusbrug bridge. Inspired by the dramatic movements of the actors in silent films, I wanted a facade that echoed this exaggeration. A major theme was to have the spaces flow between one another, blurring the distinction between interior and exterior. With this in mind, the fragmented landscaping becomes part of the building facade so that they all become one. The performance space can be backlit by the gorgeous city sights or the glass can be opaque depending on what lends best to the performance. The archives and showcase area are placed below to allow for a more secluded and private area that can be closed off depending on the events being hosted at the venue. It also interacts with the landscaping.
